Rune
Personality --
It's hard to say exactly what this Zver's personality is, since she always wavers in her trust. Hunted by humans, chased by flying darts, it's hard to trust anyone, and her hiding spot is her sanctuary. She's shy, and skittish, never meeting a gaze, and never really venturing far from where she knows. Because of this, she's independent and distrustful, but she dreams of being free to travel where-ever she wants to, without being chased. She's constantly looking for another Zver, and she believes she was the only one to escape the lab, despite all the evidence others escaped too, she feels alone, and that's her worst fear... being alone |
Design Notes --
she's always got those scarves wrapped around her, and never takes them off also, because she's been so isolated from her kind (other zvers) she doesn't know how to speak to them, nor does she fully understand the human language, all she understands is emotions and body language |
Memory --
Rune doesn't remember much after the crash, in fact, she doesn't remember how she even left Quarten3; or if she has a family that's missing her. |
Curse --
Is it true? Rune doesn't want to find out. In fact, she's haunted by the thought if she is cursed, if she takes the ribbons off. |
Dreams --
She dreams of finally finding her family and friends, and returning to Quarten3, or exploring this strange planet she's on, without being hunted. |
// History
The Chase --
The sound of feet crashing behind her spurred her to run faster.
The plants all seemed to be in her way, whipping her legs, and scratching her face.
Those creatures, all they had done since she had escaped was try to track her down.
Then she leaps, her muzzle hitting the water first, and as she dives, the cold shock that the water brings slowly numbs, and soon enough she's rising, and struggling against the current was all she could do, keeping her head above the water.
The river would carry her faster than her paws would, and soon enough, the voices that had been hunting her faded away.
When the current slowed enough, she struggled out of the water, sharp pebbles digging into her paw pads.
She had left the river at the top of a hill, and so she started making her way down the otherside.
That's when she saw it.
Finding a Home --
Ahead of her, was a glistening clear lake, reflecting against the sun, it seemed to have a million shades of blue.
When she looked to the left, she saw a narrow path, and in one part, the trees grew so close together that they twisted together, long limbs forming a den.
The opening was low, and she almost wouldn't have seen it if hadn't felt the soft path of moss leading into it. It was near invisible. It was perfect.
Quickly ducking down and entering, it was quite roomy. Thick moss covered the cracks in between the logs, insulating it.
When she started digging into the moss besides the opening, she created a small window, so she could see the lake, as well as a fresh breeze.
Alongside the lake was a pristine, white, town, old but calm, but she was hidden by the trees.
The mountains were partly hidden by the mist in the distance, she had quite a view, and with it, fresh air. Looking around, one word came to mind.
Home.
Surprise, Surprise! --
It has been many weeks, and she hasn't seen another Zver for about two moon cycles.
She had been fishing, and after eating her fill, follows the river back to her Den.
That's when she sees him.
Her heart thumps in her chest, and she's ready to run.
The young boy turns, and does what humans tend to do- he chases her.
Running, without thoughts in her head, she darts around the corner and disappears into her den.
The boy pauses.
She presses herself up against her den wall, the tree bark digging into her back.
Whatever this human was doing, it wasn't good.
"I'm lost, like you, and chased by everyone I know." The boy murmured, his eyes closed.
He kneels to the ground, and looks to the sky, as the clouds turn a stormy gray, ready for rain.
"Please, I need a friend now."
She shakes her head silently, though she knows he can't see her.
Whatever he wanted, this young human, he could get elsewhere. This was her home.
"I'm alone, I've been chased, no one wants me. Please understand." Sneaking forward, she sees the boys eyes began to tear up.
But behind him was a young girl, perhaps his sister?
Slowly, she exits the den, and stands in front of him.
He catches sight of the zver in front of him, and carefully, his hand shaking, re-wraps the ribbons around her.
Without taking them off, he tightens them, and then he whispers one word to her; "Rune."
A New Name --
Rune stiffens as the human re-wraps her ribbons, she didn't know if the curse was true or not, but she wasn't intent on finding out.
The human girl a ways off comes closer, and hides herself behind her brother.
"Please forgive me, I'm... you can call me Rowan, and my sister, Wren." Rune nods her head, and turns around, with a flick of her tail, inviting them inside her home.
The girl... Wren gasps as she enters inside, on her hands on knees.
"Pretty!" She exclaims, seeing feathers and rocks decorating the tree den.
She takes out a bag that hung from her waist and picks out a gray and blue feather, setting it on Rune's head, and laughing playfully.
She didn't seem as mellow as her older brother, and when thunder struck she jumped up and behind Rune, as if realizing she wasn't and never would be a danger again.
As the rain poors, Wren sits content, first weaving the gray feather into Rune's fur by her head, and then making bracelets by weaving grass.
Rowan looks outside, but no longer sad, and empty loneliness in his gaze. He lays back and rests his head.
'This may not be another Zver. But maybe they can be like family.' Rune thinks to herself, as she closes her eyes, tense, but content to wait for now.

Her Hiding Spot --
On a hill overlooking the crystal clear lake, lays a forest, going as far as the horizon.
Rune's hiding spot is semi-young trees, that were so close together that they grew twisted around themselves, shaping a bee's nest shape that was hidden in the center.
To get to it you must cross a narrow and steep path that was naturally made.
The entrance is almost impossible to see, as it's very low down, about the shoulder height of a Zver, and you must squeeze under a thick branch..
A path of moss leads up to the entrance, growing on the trees, and even inside the open center, creating a soft surface to sleep or relax on, and keeping heat inside.
Near the entrance, if you lay down, you can catch a fresh breeze and a beautiful look of the lake.
Near the lake is a small town, most of the buildings painted white and the largest building having a steeple.
In the distance, you can see the tops of the mountains, usually snow capped.
